Thanks for visiting my website. I live in Cape Town, one of the most beautiful places in the world, and I am proudly South African. I started with photography in Standard 8 as my art practical subject. I got the art prize in Matric for my images. Photography is my passion and there is no better job than being paid to live your passion. I studied photography after school and got my B-Tech degree and stayed top of my class through out (I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to what I love and therefore i am quite competitive *sheepish grin*). Even though I am a little bit competitive, I also love sharing what I know and love teaching, so when I got an opportunity to lecture my first year out of studying, I grabbed it. I lectured a 2 year photography course, while freelancing at the same time and building my photography business. I assisted for an amazing wedding photographer while I studied. This is where my LOVE for photographing weddings started. Weddings are a mixture of so many things: beauty, fashion, details, people, documentary, and decor. There is so much joy and purpose to capturing a couple’s most special day. It is such a privilege. My style is natural and unobtrusive, capturing beautiful moments and all the details which tell the story of the day. I am a calming presence on the day and sometimes act as a bit of a bodyguard, protecting my couples against stress on the day.
Other than wedding photography, I love architecture, portraits, families, food, decor – actually I really do love all photography.
A small bit of shy boasting: I won two Bronzes in the 2009 Profoto Awards and 2 Silvers in the 2010 Profoto Awards. I was one of ten finalists in the Best Wedding Photograph category at The Africa Photographic Awards in 2010 and I won a Silver at the SABIA 2010 Vow Awards, which is voted for by brides for excellence in service.
Other things i love: my husband, movies, reading, architecture, beautiful things and places, food, debate (my friends call me the why girl), and my family.
Please feel free to browse my site and contact me with any queries via email, or we can set up a coffee date. I look forward to hearing from you. Enjoy.
xx Lauren
